The recent WhatsApp notifications and petition have caused concern for many, which has been expressed to me. Not all residents are on WhatsApp and there are clearly some strongly held views across the community.
|
|
I also want to ensure that one issue does not dominate the agenda, when there are a variety of prominent items for discussion and I am keen to move forward with business that unites us. On that basis we will NOT discuss proposals, planting or raise ongoing discussions concerning the pond. Item 7 will be to take receipt of the petition and note it, outline the process for proposals and agree an official pond meeting date.

Working Together to Improve Ferrensby

The Village Meeting is an opportunity for everyone in the village to hear about progress, discuss the improvements we have planned and help agree the next steps. Our focus is on making practical improvements to Ferrensby, protecting its character and creating welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.
|
Whether you want to get involved, share an idea or simply stay informed, all residents are warmly welcome.

• Review and approval of the June 2026 Village Meeting minutes
• Update on actions and matters arising
3. Village Finances
• Update on village finances and banking arrangements
4. Ferrensby Village Plan 2026–2027
Progress since June and turning our agreed plans into practical improvements.
• Discussions with North Yorkshire Council, funding and project approvals
• Village entrances, verges, planting and green spaces
• Ferrensby Community Garden: materials, implementation and maintenance
• Village green, hedges and general upkeep
• Road safety, traffic speeds and signage
• Volunteers and priorities for the coming months
5. Community Events and Village Activities
• Christmas and seasonal activities
• Opportunities for residents to get involved
6. Communications and Website Update
• Ferrensby village website
• Keeping residents informed about progress and decisions
• Village WhatsApp groups, including the new Ferrensby Pond group
• Improving communication and community involvement
7. Ferrensby Pond
• Petition handed to the Chair, including the specific questions it asks residents (for distribution and consideration)
• Process for choosing a pond plan: proposals, a dedicated pond meeting and a village vote (Chair to walk through the process)
• Notice of intention to submit a proposal or five-year plan
• Agree the date and time of the pond meeting
